What’s that roofer done to my roof?

What’s that roofer done to my roof?

We recently received a Roof Survey enquiry from the daughter of a concerned couple, regarding roof works that had been carried out to their granite built town house in the area of Cults in Aberdeen by a local Roofing Contractor.

The concerns raised were relating to the final cost and specification of works carried out to the property, the daughter of the couple initially noticed a poor quality finish to some of the areas repaired and at that time became suspicious after finding out that her parents had paid the contractor a total of £30,000.00 for the completed works.

H.I.C.H LTD were instructed to carry out a Full Roof Survey Inspection to assess the standard of workmanship and the extent of materials and labour associated to the repairs, the assessment was to include a full breakdown of costs in relation to the man hours onsite, and materials used which would then be cross checked with the paid Invoice/Estimate supplied to the client by the Roofing Contractor.

Following an extensive Roof Survey H.I.C.H LTD’s findings concluded that the works carried out by the Roofing Contractor had been completed to a below Industry Standard finish, with areas of repair not replaced with the correct materials as per the estimate supplied, other areas were also found to have been patch repaired and not fully replaced as outlined in the estimate documentation supplied.

H.I.C.H LTD then carried out a full cost analysis of the material and labour elements of the contract using an algorithm tool to calculate the total costs associated to the materials used to repair the subject property, the findings concluded that the total cost of the contract should have been no more than £6427.00 excluding vat had the works ben completed using the correct materials stated in the estimate provided by the Roofing Contractor.

The Roof Survey Report provided a full fault specification with images to substantiate H.I.C.H. LTD’s conclusive findings, with a recommendation breakdown of works included to return the areas to an Industry Standard finish, this enabled the client to pursue the matter by contacting their solicitor with a view to reclaiming lost monies paid whilst completing repairs as per the contract agreement.

This favourable outcome was only made possible by the professional detailed Roof Survey completed by the Surveyor therefore those thinking of carrying out Roof Repairs would be well served by the services of H.I.C.H LTD by visiting www.hich-ltd.co.uk
