Home professionals are most in-demand today

People are turning to professionals for home improvement and repair projects.

Houzz Inc., the platform for home renovation and design, saw an 80% increase in UK project leads for home professionals in July from year to year.

There is a greater call for professionals working in outdoor spaces, and July searches for landscape architects and contractors increased by 127% each, compared to the same period last year.

Homebuilders (129%) and architects (113%) also saw an increase in demand.

Ines Cid, Managing Director of Houzz UK and Ireland, said: “There is an incredible increase in consumer interest in home improvement projects across the country, and people are coming to Houzz looking for professionals to major projects like home extensions and kitchen renovations, as well as more modest outdoor improvements.”

“This is something very positive for the industry. Despite the fact that DIY has become very popular, people know that it is always better to turn to a professional for renovation and repair work in their homes. Skilled workmanship guarantees quality, and that’s what customers want.”

In Cheshire and Greater Manchester, home professionals saw a 243% increase in project leads during July.

Other counties that saw significant year-over-year growth in demand for home professionals include Essex, Hertfordshire, and Greater London (240%, 132%, and 43%, respectively).

Within Greater London, the metropolitan areas that saw the greatest increase in demand include the boroughs of Ealing, Hillingdon, and Hounslow and Barnet and Camden (up 166% and 80%).

Information on the types of projects that homeowners completed in July speaks to the need for more usable space inside and outside the home.

Home expansion projects quadrupled (331%), custom cabinet inquiries tripled (263%), and landscape design projects doubled (114%).
