The British are very concerned about the safety of their homes.

A recent study showed that the British are concerned about the safety of their homes at night.

According to the compared market, three-quarters of the British (74 percent) actively care about the safety of their home.

What may surprise some is that as a result of the pandemic, half of the British (50 percent) are more alert now than before, but what is inspiring this change? Not only are we not used to leaving our homes unattended, but after the results of a recent survey by comparethemarket.com revealed that 43 percent of UK couples renovated their home themselves in the past 12 months, it makes sense that people have a greater desire to protect their property from potential hazards.

“Home security is essential.”

As a result, 49 percent plan to introduce new measures to protect their homes, including CCTV and security doorbells (17 percent), alarms (12 percent), and exterior lights (10 percent).

When asked how long they are willing to leave their home unattended, nearly one in five (17 percent) will not leave it unoccupied for more than a couple of hours, and more than a fifth (23 percent) will not leave it unattended at night. Those who choose to venture on mini-breaks or vacations for more than two days, just under half (44 percent) ask their friends or neighbors to keep an eye on their property.

When comparing the opinions of landlords with those of tenants, landlords appear to be slightly more safety-conscious (91 percent) than tenants (74 percent), which could be explained by the fact that they own their property and have more freedom when it comes to updating their home. In contrast, when it comes to spending time away from home, renters consider home security when planning more frequently (72 percent) than landlords (59 percent), which may be related to renters, who have fewer security measures than homeowners.

As for the measures they hope to introduce this summer, both landlords and tenants are on similar pages. British will opt for alarms (23 percent), a security doorbell (20 percent), and CCTV (18 percent), while landlords will place CCTV and security doorbells (17 percent) on top of their ready.
