The HS2 buildings are a “living hell” for residents, according to a London councilor.

Residents living near the high-speed rail project complain about the dust and noise caused by the construction.

A London council accused HS2 of reneging on its commitments to residents after people living near the construction of the high-speed rail link complained of dust, noise and vibrations in their homes.

City council residents living yards from construction sites on part of the project near Euston Station say their lives have turned “hellish” and have urged the rail company to relocate them en masse, at an estimated cost of £ 100 million.

The construction of the first phase of the project between London and Birmingham has sparked protests from environmental activists over the loss of old forests to make way for the new road.

But it is also having a significant impact in urban areas. Euston will be a major hub for the new high-speed rail link and there is a variety of housing around the station.

“The HS2 project is risky for residents.”

While the Prime Minister’s father, Stanley Johnson, received £ 4.4 million compensation from HS2 for parting ways with his home in Camden to allow construction of the project, many residents of the Regent’s Park estate of the Camden council, near Euston, they have been less lucky. Three of the farm’s blocks have been demolished to make way for the HS2 project, but three remain, along with some town hall properties on two nearby streets.

Camden Councilor Danny Beales, who leads the HS2 issue in the township, said the company had failed to provide soundproofing to all homes that requested it and was “sadly behind” on the program. He said the situation was so bad that it was common for residents of the farm to send him emails in the early hours of the morning saying that the noise from the construction was preventing them from sleeping.

May city council data, shared with The Guardian, shows that only 13% of noise mitigation works, such as additional glazing on block houses, have been completed. HS2 questions these figures and says that 55% of this sound insulation work has been completed.
