After Coronavirus Buyers Want Seashore Properties

According to a recent study by Rightmove, the market has seen an increase in inquiries about seaside properties, both for those who want to buy a second home or move there full time. This may be related to the feeling of confinement that the quarantine caused in people.

Rightmove director, Miles Shipside, felt that being locked up has given many house hunters time to reevaluate what they want from their next move, and for some, they clearly would like the sea air.

“It is wonderful to look out the window and see the sea”

Shipside said: “Having the opportunity to look out the window at an ocean view is something that many house hunters tell us is a dream for them. This means that properties that offer this may charge a premium compared to those on land.

“The period of confinement has changed what several home hunters are looking for now from their next home, and while some are looking for more space or a larger garden, others are now considering moving to the beach.”

“This is highly beneficial for the market, as this type of property does not usually have as much demand. But with everything that has happened in the last few months, and with so many buyers wanting to acquire properties that offer space and freedom, we can say it’s the perfect time to buy a home on the coast.”

Seashore properties are a good investment.

One area that is experiencing an increase in demand is Brighton & Hove.

James Epps, director of Oakley Property in Brighton, said: “Since the government announced that real estate agencies were able to return to work, we have seen a significant increase in weekly inquiries, particularly from people in London and surrounding counties looking to move out of town for a better quality of life.

“Many people now realize that they can work effectively from home, which encourages them to live outside the capital. If the stamp tax holiday is introduced, I can only see the demand for property in Brighton & Hove increasing as people considering buying will want to take advantage of the time-limited tax savings!”

“Also, these types of properties are an excellent investment to buy and resell. Buyers know this and are willing to make good deals on coastal properties.”
