The Stamp Duty-Contract Exchange’s request has surpassed 10.000 signatures.

This petition seeks to be debated in parliament soon.

A petition to activate the stamp duty on the exchange of contracts has now obtained more than 10,000 signatures. Launched for the first time in April, the campaign has been signed by 10,379 people. At this point, the government’s policy is to respond to all requests that reach this level of support. Reaching 100,000 signatures will cause it to be debated in Parliament.

The original request was launched by Chris Holland, a Senior Offshore Surveyor at the UTEC NCS Survey.

Speaking again with Property Wire yesterday, Holland said he was excited about the petition’s support.

He added: “The stamp duty is gaining a lot of traction in the media, especially as we approach the end of June.”

Holland said he hoped the government would seriously examine the petition and realize the benefits it would bring to buyers of new construction and those planning to exchange contracts in the near future.

He concluded: “To raise awareness, I have created a Twitter account @stampdutyhol. I have also been distributing brochures in Northeast areas, Blaydon, Gateshead, Newcastle, etc., mainly on homes for sale and real estate agents. From those I spoke to, it has been well received.”

Stamp Duty petition has a long way to go.

For the Stamp Duty petition to be discussed in parliament an additional 90,000 signatures are needed (as of this writing), so this petition still has a long way to go. The government should take action and offer owners a new Stamp Duty reform to make transactions easier for buyers and sellers.

On the other hand, at the end of June the Stamp Duty Holiday should come to an end, although all this will depend on the final decision of the government, at the moment a new extension is not expected, although it is possible that the Stamp Duty Holiday will be extended a again if the British demand it.
